Wagering Goes on on Tuesday Evening with NBA Finals Series

June 15, 2010 · Posted in Horse Race News · Comment

Thus far the odds makers have liked the home team in this NBA Finals wagering series.

The NBA Finals go in a 2-3-2 format so Game 5 will be in Boston also before the series comes back to LA for Games 6 and if needed, Game 7. In every game in this series thus far, the home team has been liked in NBA wagering and that should continue to be the case.

Basketball Finals wagering has gone to and fro in this series. The Lakers opened up as a huge favorite to win the series but then Boston won Game 2 and got back into it. Rarely has a team won all three matches at home in the NBA Finals since the 2-3-2 format actually hurts the team with three straight home matches. The Celtics only needed to win 2 of three to force the series back to LA since they won Game 2 on the road.

At this point, going into Game 6, they have been able to do that. Although Paul Pierce cheerfully stated at the end of Game 2 that the Boston Celtics would not be returning to Los Angeles, with one home game loss, that’s exactly what they will be doing on Tuesday evening.

In the playoffs the Celtics have been very good, although they were not a fine home team during the regular season. The essential for Boston in this series has been the play of Rajon Rondo. When he dominates a match as he did in Game 2, the Celtics can win. If the Los Angeles Lakers keep him under control then their odds of winning go up significantly. But with the series now at 2-3, and the Celtics only one game away from taking the NBA Finals tournament, the Lakers’ odds are looking progressively more gloomy.

As an underdog, the Lakers have been a pretty good team. Before last Tuesday’s game they were 4-1 ATS in their last 5 playoff matches as an underdog. The Celtics have been a fine favorite recently on the other side in basketball finals wagering. Before last Tuesday’s event they were 6-2 ATS in their last 8 matches as a favorite. With regards to the pointspread, this series between the Lakers and Celtics has gone to the underdog most of the time. The road team has also done well in the series. Before last Tuesday’s Game 3, the Lakers were only 1-4-1 against the NBA wagering odds in the last 6 meetings in Boston.

The total in basketball finals wagering is hard to figure. Before last Tuesday’s event, the Lakers had gone over in 6 of their last 9 road matches. The Celtics however had gone under in four of their last five home matches.

Kobe Bryant is showing the strain of pretty much carrying his team. At the conclusion of Game 5 on Sunday, which went to the Celtics, he was heard to shout profanities at his team for not supporting him as much as he thought they should. It is still to be seen if that changes in Game 6 on Tuesday.

Outcomes for NBA Finals Game 4

June 11, 2010 · Posted in Horse Race News · Comment

On Thursday Night, the Boston Celtics faced their first must-win match of the playoffs. They trailed the Los Angeles Lakers 2-1 in the NBA Finals odds and not even the most ardent Boston buff believes the Celtics could afford to lose on Thursday and win the series. Thanks to Derek Fisher, who just outplayed everyone in the fourth quarter, the Lakers won a tough match on Tuesday night. Now the Lakers will try and put a stranglehold on this series on Thursday.

Boston was a 3.5 point preference with an overall of 190 at SBG Global. It seems like they earned that ranking since they got even in the finals on Thursday night with a victory against the Lakers.

The Boston Celtics pulled it off even though it was a difficult match. The Celtics trailed by as many as eight points and was down 62-60 after the 3rd, but rallied on the strength of its bench in the fourth quarter, headed by Glenn “Big Baby” Davis. Pau Gasol scored 21 points while teammate Kobe Bryant had 33 points, leading the Lakers. Nate Robinson’s three-pointer with 3.4 seconds left in the period delivered the Celtics to the second with a 19-16 lead.

Sunday night is going to be Game 5.

Derek Fisher continually made the big plays down the stretch, leading the Lakers to victory 91-84 on Tuesday night. Kobe Bryant had 29 points to lead the Lakers but he missed a ton of shots. It was Fisher who secured the match for Los Angeles. Kobe gets most of the credit when the Lakers succeed but not this time around. It was Fisher’s match as he finished with 16 points, 11 of these made in the fourth quarter. Kevin Garnett had 25 points to top Boston while Ray Allen, who had 32 points in Game 2 was totally closed down. He failed all 13 of his lineup goal attempts and finished with just 2 points.

Boston did not get a lot from Paul Pierce in Game 2, and they got nothing from Ray Allen. Allen finished with just 15 points. Rajon Rondo also did not dominate as he had in Game 2 as he finished with just 11 points, eight assists and three rebounds. It was said before this series started that for the Celtics to win they needed Rondo to dominate. The Boston Celtics won after he did that in Match 2. In the other 2 matches he did not and the Celtics lost.

The Los Angeles Lakers still shine gaining points in the NBA gambling playoffs. The Los Angeles Lakers are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 playoff matches as an underdog. The Los Angeles Lakers are 5-2 ATS in their last seven road matches. The Celts are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 home matches. The Los Angeles Lakers are 4-10-1 ATS in the last 15 meetings against Boston.

Checking the total, the Under is 14-6-1 in the Lakers last 21 matches as a road underdog. The Under is 5-1 in the Celtics last 6 home matches. The Under is 3-1-1 in the last five games between the two teams.

Los Angeles Lakers against Celtics – NBA Finals Game 3 Betting Odds

June 8, 2010 · Posted in Horse Race News · Comment

The Los Angeles Lakers and Celtics will play Game 3 of the NBA Finals gambling on Tuesday evening. It will be the 1st of three straight games in Boston because the finals are a 2-3-2 format. The squads split their 1st 2 games in Los Angeles with the Los Angeles Lakers winning handily in Match 1 while the Celtics rebounded behind Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo on Match 2. On Tuesday evening, in a match that can be seen on ABC, the series lead will be at stake.

With a total of 192.5 at SBG Global, Boston is a 2.5 point favorite.

The Boston Celtics won 103-94 in Sunday’s Match 2, carried by Allen and Rondo. The Lakers were plagued by foul trouble and they just couldn’t stop Allen or Rondo. The Boston Celtics got an NBA Finals probabilities record eight three-pointers from Allen in the Game 2 win and they needed them. Paul Pierce isn’t the player he once was and Kevin Garnett was silent again. The Boston Celtics won because of Allen’s shooting and Rondo’s all around match and due to the fact Kobe Bryant and plenty of of the other Los Angeles Lakers were in foul trouble all evening. The Boston Celtics have been very good throughout the playoffs at home after having difficulties throughout the normal season, and now the series moves to Boston.

Here are Tuesday night’s NBA gambling stats. In their past 5 NBA Championship games, the Los Angeles Lakers are 4-1 ATS. In their past 5 games as a road underdog, the Los Angeles Lakers are 4-1 ATS. In the past 6 meetings in Boston, the Los Angeles Lakers are 1-4-1 ATS. The underdog is 3-1-1 ATS in the past 5 meetings between the 2 squads and the road team is 3-1-1 ATS in the past 5 meetings.

The Boston Celtics are 4- ATS in their past 4 Tuesday games. In their past 8 NBA Tournament games, the Celtics are 7-1 ATS. In their past 5 home games, the Celtics are 4-1 ATS. The Boston Celtics are 6-2 ATS in their past 8 playoff games as a favorite.

In the Los Angeles Lakers past 12 in total, the over is 8-2-2. The Over is 6-2-1 in the Lakers past nine road games. The Over is 3–1 in the Celtics past 4 NBA Tournament games. In the Celtics past seven Tuesday games, the under is 5-2.

The Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers have met 11 times prior to this, with the Celtics earning it nine of those meetings. The latest win was in 2008 when the Celtics defeated the Los Angeles Lakers in a series that went 4-2. Celtics enthusiasts famously pelted the Los Angeles Lakers bus with rocks following that win. Even now, Boston should be a pretty unfriendly place for the Los Angeles Lakers to find themselves playing in the next three games. If Boston is able to to take those three games, they won’t be returning to Los Angeles. And since the Celtics are going to have home court edge and history on their side, that’s a shot. It’s not a great one, but don’t tell that to the Celtics’ Paul Pierce. In the last moments of their Game 2 win, he shouted “We ain’t coming back to LA!”
